WORKSHOPS

BEGINNERS ASHTANGA VINYASA WORKSHOP

This workshop has been designed as an ongoing series of workshops that enables each student to enquire more deeply, having more time to study and to practice the system of Ashtanga vinyasa.

'STARTING THE JOURNEY'

This first workshop of this series, is for the complete beginner or those in need of a refresher course.

This is an introduction to the basic principles and techniques of Ashtanga Vinyasa. What is Ujjayi breath? What is Bandha? What is Dristi and what is Vinyasa? It is intended that some light will be shed upon all of these questions that we have when we first read about this practice or hear about it. We will start to explore these fundamental elements of the practice and we will begin to look at ways in which to implement them during our own practice. We will explore Suryanamaskara A and B (the Sun salutations) and we will venture into the Standing Postures. We will learn how to move safely in and out of these postures, exploring the basics of correct alignment and breath for each pose.

The intention of this workshop is to support the student at the beginning of the forever inquisitve search into this method.

Exploring the six fundamental Standing asanas (postures) of the Ashtanga system

After the traditional Sun-salutations we begin the standing postures. These postures are a very important part of the sequence. Each standing asana has many benefits. Learn what each of their benefits are, what their Sanskrit names mean. How to enter and exit them. Let us begin to explore them in greater depth. We will also be looking at healthy alternatives for these postures. Are you aware of how to balance the energy in these asanas?

Shelley has often felt that looking at the outer context of the body, ie, how the muscles are working, is very alike to a mechanic exploring a car, fascinated time after time, professionally curious as to how each individual part allows the car to drive. Eventually, after much technical exploration the mechanic will sit in the car and enjoy the luxury of the car as it drives.

Who can participate: All levels that have practised beyond the Sun-salutations.
(I have been practising and exploring these asanas for years and they are challenging as well as delightful and still I am making new discoveries about them!)

HEALING
IT'S TIME TO HEAL YOU

workshop one: "Why me?"

A series of workshops designed by Shelley.

After many years of healing others and continuing to feel priviledged to heal, Shelley has worked with many whom have trusted, confided and been guided by her. Through each healing that's taken place Shelley has learnt a great deal about the 'human being and has explored many questions such as; What holds us back? What creates disease? What is it that we all long for?

She is a natural born Healer and Medium and was told in her teenage years that she had a gift to heal others and work with Spirit. Shelley would like to guide others to their deeper purposes in life to rediscover their hearts and to heal themselves which in turn she believes will bring much beauty and good to all others.

This is the first of these workshop:

Workshop 1: " Why me?" (Looking at the ways in which we suffer)
